How to Create More and Fear Less

How to Create More and Fear Less

Creativity is the beginning of everything.

Look at every single thing around you. At some point there was nothing there — nothing existed except for a thought. Every single thing you see around you was birthed in the moment of creative thought.

“Creativity” is the word we chose for 2018.

The process of creation can seem thoroughly terrifying because it begins from essentially nothing and evolves with at least some form of chaos. It’s at the center of that chaotic process where form begins to take shape.

When we close our eyes and find ourselves centering in the process of creation, everything else melts away. What felt confusing is now clear. What was once distracting, now fades into the background.

We have to trust that this PROCESS will produce something VALUABLE. Click To Tweet

You don’t have to be an artist to be creative. Our entire lives are a creative process, but we rarely stop to look at it that way.

Pay attention to today’s creative moments and muse about your findings. Notice how creative nature is. Notice how you create moments that make someone else smile or how you enjoy the creativity in the food you eat. Try infusing creativity into your day today.⠀⠀

INFUSE EVERYDAY LIFE WITH CREATIVITY

Let’s ask ourselves how we can live more creatively — trying new things, finding new ways to eat healthily, budgeting creatively, and making time for the things that bring us joy.⠀⠀

Through applying practical, creative actions in our everyday lives, we can develop a holistic lifestyle of creativity that is helpful for our personal development and success in every area of our lives. We want to live lives with more impact and fulfillment, no matter what we’re doing.

Creativity opens doors of opportunity.

Creativity gives us the confidence to be ourselves.

As we live creatively, we also activate the creativity that already exists inside of others.Click To Tweet

Now, more than ever, the world is hungry for authentic creativity. For our society to evolve and flourish, we desperately need to embrace creativity.

WHAT IF I FAIL?

The element of creativity that scares all of us is that 7-letter word we don’t want to say out loud: F-A-I-L-U-R-E.

What if we fail?

Ah, but darling, we surely will. We will fail, many times.

We’ll break. And it’ll hurt.

The secret is that all of this breaking brings with it the opportunity of increasing our value. The secret is to keep showing up with open hearts to this process of lifelong creativity.

When I was living in Japan, several years ago, I learned about the term kintsugi.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer that has been dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to cover up or be ashamed of. Kintsugi has been said to make the broken places even stronger than they were before. Kintsugi often makes the repaired piece even more beautiful than the original, revitalizing it with new life. OH, BUT MY DARLING, WHAT IF YOU FLY?

A few weeks ago, our kids were playing together.

While we were working, Regina’s 6-year-old son Rand came to us, “Emma (my daughter) didn’t want to play a game with us because she said she couldn’t do it. So I told her, maybe you just don’t know you can do it, but you really can!”

We both died inside from the cuteness and courage of that interaction. What six-year-old says something like that to another child? Oh, from the mouths of babes. What wise, loving words!

Each of us needs a voice like that in our life that tells us, oh, but what if you really can do it?

We want to encourage you to keep showing up. Do it afraid—maybe that’s the best way to start.

Whisper to yourself in the face of fear, oh but my darling, what if I fly?

Tap on this quote image to save it and share it. Inspire yourself and others to create more and fear less.

Do you consider yourself a creative person or no? How could you infuse more creativity into your everyday life? Do you have a passion project you’ve always wanted to start? We’d love to hear from you!

Let’s create beauty together in 2018!
