DIY Leather Pumpkins

As the crisp air of autumn settles in, and the landscapes transform into a beautiful display of colors. We begin infusing our homes with cozy fall decor & all things pumpkin spice. 

What better way to embrace the season than by incorporating a unique, handcrafted piece into your fall decor? If you're looking for a creative and stylish project to add an elegant touch to your home, these DIY leather pumpkins may be just what you need.

 





Materials/Tools:

Instructions:

1. Trace your pumpkins - Lay your wood pumpkin on top of the leather scrap, using your pencil, trace around the pumpkin. Flip the pumpkin and trace again.

2. Cut out shape - Cut along your traced lines using a scissors or exacto knife and cutting mat. We opted to use the exacto knife for the initial cut and then cleaned up the edges using a scissors.

3. Apply Mod Podge - Liberally spread your Mod Podge or glue onto the pumpkin. Align your leather piece over the correct side of the pumpkin and press down firmly, smoothing any bumps. Flip the pumpkin and repeat.

4. Trace & cut leaves - Lay your printed cut out leaf designs onto your leather scraps; trace & cut out shapes. Using your knife or a hammer and nail, punch out a hole on the stem of each leaf so you can attach them to the pumpkins.

5. Add decorations - Using twine, attach the leaves to the stem of the pumpkins. You can finish them off with a twine bow, or add a few wood beads for an additional embellishment. Voila your leather pumpkins are complete and ready to be showcased in your home!
